Temporary Emergency Housing

- Available for up to 28 nights
- Designed for students with immediate need
- Includes short-term stay and planning support for next steps
Temporary Emergency Housing Eligibility

To be eligible, you must:
- Be a currently enrolled student at SJSU
- Be experiencing homelessness, couch surfing, in an unsafe living environment, or facing eviction
- Adhere to no drugs or alcohol policy
- Adhere to no guests policy
- Meet weekly with SJSU Cares case manager
- Adhere to all campus and university housing policies
- Actively look for and secure long-term housing while residing in emergency housing
Rapid Rehousing Program


In Partnership with Bill Wilson Center
Provides:
- Case management
- Tiered rental support
- May include multiple months of assistance
Rapid Rehousing Eligibility
To be eligible, you must:
- Be experiencing homelessness
- Meet with an SJSU Cares case manager
- Be enrolled in 6 units at SJSU for the duration of the program (fall and spring semesters only)
- Maintain a 2.0 GPA and be in good standing
- Adhere to no drugs or alcohol policy
- Acknowledge that the program support is a declining subsidy, with the student taking on greater portions of the rent as the time of the lease progresses, with the student paying 100% at the end of the term of the lease
- Be able to qualify for and sign a lease on their own
Off-Campus Housing Search Support

We Offer:
- 1:1 support from a Basic Needs Coordinator on:
- Off-campus housing search
- Renter education
- Tenant-Landlord mediation referrals
- Tools for finding listings, comparing options, and budgeting
- Guidance for understanding leases and rental rights
To be eligible, you must:
- Be an SJSU student
Community Referrals
If you:
- Are no longer enrolled at SJSU
- Live outside the San Jose area
